What is the Knixwear controversy? ›

The settlement benefits consumers who purchased Knix products between Jan. 1, 2020, and Dec. 31, 2022. According to the class action lawsuit, Knix period underwear products contain dangerous PFAS chemicals despite the manufacturer's marketing that the panties are free of toxic chemicals.

The rule of thumb is to always round up. Bras should be snug-fitting, and so if you round down, you risk wearing a bra that's way too tight and uncomfortable. You can also try on the “sister sizes” to see if giving or taking from band and cup sizes makes a better fit for you.

I write on the relationship between e-commerce and physical retail. Knix, a Canadian direct-to-consumer (DTC) lingerie brand known for its leakproof underwear and body positivity, is making waves across Canada, having recently opened six new stores this fall alone.

Essity acquired 80% of Knix's shares for $320 million, the company said in a press release. Joanna Griffiths, the company's founder and CEO, will remain as president of Knix and continue to manage the brand. Griffiths owns the remaining 20% of Knix's shares.

We recommend using leakproof products as your only period management product or as backup leak protection used in conjunction with menstrual cups, pads, or tampons… basically whatever you're most comfortable with.

At Knix we do not intentionally use PFAS in the manufacturing of our leakproof products. However, PFAS are now so widely dispersed in the environment that even the water we drink has low levels of contamination that, unfortunately, cannot be avoided.

Knix recognizes that forced and child labour are known risks within the apparel industry. To date, Knix has not identified any forced labour or child labour in our activities and supply chain. Knix's Ethical Supply Chain Guidelines prohibit forced and child labour by its suppliers.

Knix denies all of the allegations made in the lawsuit and denies that Knix did anything improper or unlawful. The proposed Settlement is not an admission of guilt or wrongdoing of any kind by Knix.
