The Sr. Sourcing and Contracts Manager will drive the most complex sourcing, negotiations, and relationship management for a wide range of technology areas. The candidate must have an advanced understanding of the most complex technology markets and the largest and most strategic new and emerging technology products, a wide range of business processes and concepts supported by technology, evolving pricing models, and ever-increasing legal and regulatory risk landscape.

This position will directly lead sourcing teams for new or replacement technologies and manage the existing supplier base.

Responsibilities Of This Position Include

• Getting the best possible deals and contracts for the most complex negotiations for Publix including initial pricing, maintenance and support, warranties, liability protection, adherence to laws and regulations, and overall risk to Publix
• Leading and facilitating the sourcing of information technology for the largest and most strategic software, hardware, and services for the Publix enterprise
• Incorporating business, technical, legal, and security and compliance requirements into highly complex technology deals
• Developing and executing overall negotiation strategies to deals where Publix has limited leverage and high risk that require collaboration within the Publix Technology Department, business area senior leadership, Publix legal team, and the vendor
• Understanding and interpreting a wide a range of pricing models with our largest technology and most challenging technology vendors including variations of licensing and subscription constructs; projecting the impact of those pricing models on Publix’s finances
• Leading the development of Requests for Information and Requests for Proposal for tiered Publix initiatives, including the specification of technical requirements for new technologies
• Leading the business reviews of our most critical technology vendors
• Managing on-going business relationship expectations with Publix technology vendors and serving as the escalation point when issues arise
• Managing the largest and most strategic technology hardware lifecycle process to ensure a consistent availability of critical products
• Managing category spend, annualized volumes, contract terms, product specifications, product quality, service requirements and total cost of ownership

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an analytical discipline, or equivalent experience with vendor management or contract management
• 5 years of related experience in procurement and/or contracts negotiations of technology/supply chain management or other highly complex domain
• Exceptional knowledge of Publix Purchasing Methodology
• Working knowledge of a wide range of technologies including servers, workstations, storage, software, Artificial Intelligence, SaaS solutions, technical and maintenance services, consulting and professional services.
• Working knowledge of business models and processes supported by Publix Technology including but not limited to retail operations, marketing, merchandising, warehousing, transportation, human resources, finance and accounting, real estate and construction, social media, and online commerce
• Advanced technology supplier market dynamics
• Advanced knowledge of financial and economic structure of technology companies
• Expert level knowledge in technology pricing models
• Knowledge of traditional and cloud computing paradigms
• Knowledge of Publix and Publix Technology’s business objectives
• Knowledge of operating cost plans and applicable budgets
• Expert level understating of laws, legal concepts, and regulatory requirements including indemnity, limitation of liability, insurance, information protection, privacy, warranties, acceptance criteria, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in an analytical discipline
• 10+ years of related experience in procurement of technology or other highly complex domain

Year End BonusAs a year-end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month’s extra pay (pro-rated in the first year) each year if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check that year. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus line above.
