Hollywood stars pay tribute to This Morning's Sam Rubin after tragic death (2024)

This Morning's former Hollywood correspondent Sam Rubin has tragically passed away at the age of 64.

The esteemed reporter, known for his role on Hollywood Uncensored, suffered a heart attack following a radio segment broadcast from his home, as reported by Variety.

Despite being rushed to a Los Angeles hospital by ambulance, he was pronounced dead.

KTLA, where Sam was a beloved figure, shared the heartbreaking news online: "KTLA 5 is profoundly saddened to report the death of Sam Rubin. Sam was a giant in the local news industry and the entertainment world, and a fixture of Los Angeles morning television for decades."

The network's heartfelt homage continued: "His laugh, charm and caring personality touched all who knew him. Sam was a loving husband and father: the roles he cherished the most. Our thoughts are with Sam's family during this difficult time."

Sam also served as a correspondent for This Morning, delivering scoops and celebrity buzz from his Hollywood studio.

His last appearance on the This Morning set was in 2018, where he joined then-presenters Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford to discuss the latest happenings in the world of celebrities, reports the Mirror.

Friends, colleagues and fans have paid emotional tributes to Sam Rubin following his unexpected passing. His colleague from 720 WGN, Lisa Dent, shared on social media: "Sam Rubin @SamOnTV had a heart attack and could not be saved. I'm heartbroken. He was a member of my radio show family, joining us a few times a week. Finding out live on the prompted some serious sobbing. My heartfelt condolences to his beloved family. Godspeed Sam."

A devastated viewer took to social media lamenting: "Sad to hear that Sam Rubin of KTLA has passed suddenly from a heart attack. I loved his reporting. He was such a sweet, fun, nice guy. Condolences for his family."

PR professional Jamie Gruttemeyer Symonds told Variety: "I feel like everyone is going to feel like they lost a family friend."

Actor Yvette Nicole Brown called Rubin “a friend” and wrote on X: “I enjoyed all the times I got to visit him at KTLA.”

Rubin graced the screen just yesterday for KTLA, where he's been an esteemed member since 1991. His journalistic endeavours earned him multiple Emmys and a Golden Mike award.

He also received a lifetime achievement accolade from Southern California Broadcasters Association. Rubin hosted over 100 episodes of his popular show Hollywood Uncensored with Sam Rubin.

The twice-married father of four wed Leslie Gale Shuman in 2007 and their union produced two children. His first marriage was to Julie Anderson - married in 1988 but divorced in 2006.

This earlier undertaking resulted in another two children.
