I really love the light and summery taste of burrata, and the fact that it pairs so well with late summer fruit and flavors. Here are two versions of the same burrata board. You can make this as a snacking board, and let your guests graze. Or serve it with bowls as a refreshing salad course. I also made it into a crostini appetizer a few weeks ago. You can’t go wrong with these delicious seasonal flavors!
Give some of my other burrata boards a try too: Burrata & Citrus Salad, Fall Burrata Board, Burrata and Prosciutto Crostini, and Fall Burrata Salad.
What’s is Burrata?
Curious what burrata is? It’s one of my favorite cheeses. Read a bit more about it, how it’s made and what it pairs well with on my previous burrata board post.
Burrata is a soft Italian cheese, similar to mozzarella. In fact, the outter layer of burrata is mozzerella cheese formed into a pocket, then filled with a softer cheese curd (called stracciatella) and cream.
Large Burrata & Stone Fruit Spread
I’ve come up with the perfect board to satisfy all our favorite burrata combos, including:
- burrata (of course)
- peaches
- cherries
- prosciutto
- heirloom tomatoes
- mint
- basil
How to Build a Burrata Board
- Start by prepping your produce.
- Cut heirloom tomatoes into uniform quarters, then toss in a little olive oil, salt and pepper.
- Cut peaches into similar-sized quarters, much like the tomatoes.
- Pit and slice cherries. Here’s a great cherry pitter. And if you don’t have one of those, here’s a fun trick with chopsticks and a beer bottle.
- Start placing the various produce in lines on the board. You can use my design or change it up.
- Place two rows of burrata (2 balls each, which likely means two containers of burrata).
- Cut the burrata balls on the board so that the delicious creamy inside was still sitting inside some of the mozzarella outer shell. Perfect for serving!
- Be liberal with the salt and olive oil drizzled over your burrata. Salt brings out the flavor!
- Lay out the prosciutto. I like to cut pieces in half so it’s easier to serve. In order to make the presentation look pretty, simply place the bottom end of the prosciutto slices and have the rest ripple down to create a subtle ribbon look.
- Place basil with the tomatoes (for a savory combo). Note: only include full basil leaves that look really fresh and healthy. Ones that are turning brown can have a bitter flavor.
- Place mint with peaches for a sweeter bite. Note that mint wilts very easily, so place on the board last, ideally right before serving.
How do I Eat/Serve This?
I’ve received a ton of questions about how to serve this.
- At its simplest, you can put out bowls and eat the components of this board together as a salad. It’s great as is, no need to add more lettuce or anything.
- You could also serve alongside some dressed arugula (and let guests add whatever parts of the board they’d like).
- Lay out slices of bread for more of a Build Your Own Crostini situation. Otherwise, any other carb or crackers is great for topping with the yummy burrata and all the fixins.
There’s really no wrong way to do it!

Smaller Round Burrata & Tomato Board
I’ve made many versions of this board, and you can make any size that fits the bill, This round burrata board is simply a smaller version of the larger burrata board above (using 2 burrata balls vs. 4). When you pair it down, focus the board on one aspect—I chose the savory heirloom tomatoes to really stand out. But if you prefer peaches or cherries, go for the sweet side instead.
Show me Your Burrata
This board has created so many great recreations and conversations on instagram posts (dare I say, it went VIRAL!). I loved seeing your take on this board using your favorite produce, from blackberries to figs, there were so many yummy summer flavor combos.
In fact, you all have such great ideas for how to add new flavors and I’m already working on a Fall version of this type of board. Look for that soon, send me your ideas on the best Fall cheese to use!
Nothing makes me happier than your take on the viral burrata board. If you make a spread inspired by this post, please tag me at @ainttoooproudtomeg and use #AintTooProudToCheese so I can see and share!
